Fearing an economic downturn, smartphone manufacturers in India are busy celebrating Diwali in advance, racking up millions on both online and offline platforms during festival sales as Indians mostly make a beeline to offer exciting offers and discounts.
In the smartphone category, there has been a 15-fold increase this year, led by Samsung, OnePlus, Apple, Xiaomi and Vivo on Amazon.in.

The company sold over 38 lakhs smartphones, with the Redmi Note 7 becoming the best-selling smartphone series on Flipkart. Xiaomi was also the best selling smartphone brand on Amazon.
According to Raghu Reddy, head of categories and online sales, Xiaomi India, has been a shocking thing for Xiaomi this festive season.
Another Chinese player Realme sold more than 2.2 million devices during the festive sales period.

According to Flipkart, more than 20 models were sold in every 1000 units during the sale, which is the first time for any event.

Setting a new record in the luxury smartphone segment, Samsung on October 4 sold a total of 1,600 “Galaxy Fold” devices in a flat 30 minutes after pre-booking opened at the company’s official online store.

Last year, Xiaomi sold 2.5 million smartphones at this time and saw more than 50 percent growth rate (year-on-year).
